Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This)…

…although the “this” for the current project happens to be Misti Alpaca Lace, rather than anything darker!

Boo Knits Sweet Dreams Lace Shawl

I’m making yet another Sweet Dreams, from the In Love collection by Boo Knits.

With just over 2000 projects on Ravelry so far, it’s not as ubiquitous as a Clapotis or a Hitchhiker, but it is a fun knit with a lot of results for not a lot of effort.

This is my 4th time making one, which seems to contradict my “learn something new each time” approach. However, this time around, I am doing the following:

Techniques:

Did you catch that? I said the B-word…all these years, and this is my first time doing beaded knitting. I’ve never attempted it before, and I decided that it was time to give it a whirl.

So I’m using seed beads, and I’m applying them with a beading needle as I go, rather than string many hundreds of beads (or stringing 50 at a time, breaking the yarn, and stringing more.)

It’s very slow going – stopping to add a bead every 12 stitches or so on most knit rows takes longer than one might think. I have over 20 hours in so far, and I’m just about to start the third chart.

For comparison, I can usually knit one of these in about 16 hours.

But I think it’s going to be gorgeous…not that you can tell from the pre-blocking, on the needles photos 😉
